Yeah, yeah, we all know that we barely got a cyanogenmod7 fully working on the Samsung Galaxy Y, but that shouldn't get in the way of trying to port cm9 to work somewhat like cm7 on the little Galaxy Y.
A week ago, percy_g2 started a thread at xda-developers forums with an unofficial build of Cyanogenmod9.
Note: Please don't expect to see fully working features on this one as it doesn't have the progress the Cyanogenmod7 build has. By installing this you should be aware of the bugs you will experience and various functions not working, please keep the hateful comments away.
The build we will have a look at in this post will be Build #2 with the changes:
"Overlay fixed for ldpi (no more fc in phone app and overlapping)"
Download CM9 Nightly Build #2- Click here.
Instructions:
Not working:
No camera
No audio
No wifi
No bluetooth
Issues worked on:
Overlay for ldpi (fixed)
Audio
Bluetooth
Wifi

Here is Hyperion Project Reloaded, the developers decided to do a re-work on the rom. They claim that it is now "Faster, Smarter and Better than ever!".
From the looks of it, the rom has received a major overhaul in transparency on pretty much any system app and settings menus, there might be more core stuff that have been changed though.

Galaxy S4 Wallpapers for Samsung Galaxy Y in One App

App
madz13 from xda-developers has shared a custom app he made that contains the Galaxy S4 wallpapers. This is not some zip file that you extract and paste the image files to your sdcard but you install this apk, and it creates a shortcut on your Wallpapers popup when you long-press on your homescreen which gives a much quicker access than manually browsing the images through the gallery to set them as wallpapers.
This app contains 7 wallpapers that get installed. The installation is very simple, basically you just install the apk like you install any app and you are done.

There are times your Galaxy Y may start causing you problems such as hangs at certain points, apps force-closing, not allowing you to move forward and so on after installing a faulty app.
If you didn't know, Android can also be booted into Safe Mode just like how you boot your Windows PC and the main point of it is of course for troubleshooting issues. Thanks to Safe Mode, you will be able to uninstall unresponsive apps and fix your phone.

[SCRIPT] Bloatware Remover for Samsung Galaxy Y (List added)
Saturday, June 1, 2013

Tag :
Misc
xXx~~~SHLOK~~~xXx from xda-developers has released this neat zip file that removes all of the bloatware for you within seconds.
What is bloatware?
Bloatware is basically apps that come installed from the factory which may not be of much use for you. I've read and seen many people being upset because of the huge amount of apps we get that come by default with the Samsung Galaxy Young. Especially the rom developers, they need space in the system partition for other custom system apps and not only that, but bloatware can come in the way of the phone's performance such as having too many useless apps running in the background taking up memory.
Most of the apps are assigned as system apps and cannot be removed without having a rooted phone, you would need to use apps such as Titanium Backup to uninstall each of them manually.
What exactly does this do?
What this zip file contains is a simple updater-script and nothing else. In the updater-script you will find some basic commands which remove specific apk files aswell as odex files (if your rom is odexed). The script does not contain any commands to fix permissions or anything of the sort so beware that after flashing this and when you try to install one of the removed apps again in the future, it will force-close. For that, simply go to advanced menu in CWM Recovery and wipe dalvik cache and then choose the Fix permissions option.

It is possible you may be unhappy with the aftermath of using this script as it deletes a lot of apps and cleans the phone as much as it can. Please do make a nandroid backup of your rom incase you want to go back. You have been warned, please refrain from insultive comments.
