Most of you should be familiar with the status bar modding procedures. You are required to have a rooted phone, then a root browsing tool to get the 2 apk files SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk (alternatively you can pull and push the files using adb).

I know a few people who love their warranty or are afraid to root their phone (a real life friend of mine with a Galaxy Y) and I can understand that. In this post I am going to show you how to get the ICS 4.0 statusbar on your Samsung Galaxy Young without the need of modifying system apps.

You will actually be using an app called "ICS 4.0 Statusbar" which can be downloaded for free on the Play Store. - Click here to download.

Once you have downloaded and installed the app, you start it up:

As you see above, toggle the top right button to On to turn on the ICS 4.0 statusbar, but that's not all. You also need to enable the Accessibility option on your phone. Instead of going back and going to Settings, you can simply turn it on by tapping on the Off button which should take you directly to the settings. From there, all you have to do is enable the Accessibility and under it where you see ICS 4.0 StatusBar, enable that too:

After that, you are free to customize your Statusbar by enabling and disabling various settings on what to show and what to not show:

And that is how you get the ICS 4.0 Statusbar without the need of modding your system files. And to complete the ICS look, I would advise you to download Holo Launcher. - Click here to download.

Final result:

There are many ICS apps available on the Play Store which could disguise your Gingerbread 2.3.6 to ICS 4.0.
