Xposed Framework on Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360

A while ago, Xposed Framework was back ported to Gingerbread and since the Galaxy Y is running GB and sadly always will be, it's on the list of supported devices.

For those of you who are not aware of what this Xposed Framework represents, in a few words it basically allows you to modify your system without the need of decompiling the apk files and then pushing them to your system. It saves tons of time for modifications to the UI such as changing text color, background, images and whatnot whether your rom is deodexed or odexed. Sadly, those exact advantages are missing for the Galaxy Y as for now there is no such module available.

I decided to give it a shot and guess what, it installs without any problems! Huge thanks to xda member liudongmiao for porting this to Gingerbread and of course even bigger thanks to xda member rovo89 for making all of this possible.

As I mentioned above, there are no modules available for now that help modify Gingerbread TouchWiz roms such as the the module called Wanam Xposed which is made for users to modify their Jelly Bean based TouchWiz roms.

We do still get some goodies such as the Play Store fixer, the XPrivacy and App Settings. All of which I go into detail about in the video you will find in this post.

Downloads:

Xposed Installer: Click here.
Play Store fixer (module): Click here.
XPrivacy (module): Click here.
App Settings (module): Click here.

I would say the most useful module for now is the App Settings one because it gives you the ability to change an app's DPI, force a screen orientation, force it to not be fullscreen or force it to be fullscreen, etc.

If you have no idea how to install and setup all of this to work, you may watch this video below:

These are the only known working modules for now, if you happen to stumble upon some neat ones that work in the future, don't hestitate to leave a comment!

BUGS

-Unfortunately, I haven't tested the ROM yet since both my PS Vita and Galaxy Y are having problems and I'm trying to figure it out first but people have been saying they cannot connect to their internet (did not state whether it was Wi-Fi or 3G), Radio Force-Closing and 3G not working

EDIT: I've tested the ROM WITH Percy's CM#2 Kernel and everything works fine. No force-closing, nothing and all that is a problem is that "Media scanner" doesn't seem to show as a notification but it does read my Micro-SD Card's content and the Rotation animation flashes as a "Green Screen" when it does but it's disabled by default. That's pretty much it, nothing goes wrong if you follow the instructions PRECISELY

You also may need to flash [Kernel][DEV]Percy @GNU #10 & Percy @CM #2[ UPDATE:- 20 - 05 - 13] - xda-developers but it may not be necessary. So this is my first post on GalaxyYArchive and I'm sorry for any mistakes that I may have made.
The Hyperion ROM series for the Galaxy Y are well known for their fast performance, smoothness and professionally made features and custom menus developed by xda member CarlDeanCatabay and a few other people who also contributed.

Unfortunately for the fans, this seems to be the last and final build of the Hyperion 8 Golden Master but ther appears to be an incoming update to the rom soon, so stay tuned.

P.S. For those of you who might be wondering where the AOSP lockscreens are, or whether there is an extended power menu or not. The answer is, they are not included simply because the developer(s) find them useless to have on the rom.

Features:

  • Rooted
  • BusyBox
  • Deodexed
  • Zipaligned
  • init.d support
  • Quick Panel toggles
  • Statusbar brightness slider
  • Swipe to remove notifications
  • EDT Tweaks
  • Owner profile
  • Mega Bass Beats Audio mod
  • Bravia Engine
  • SoundAlive mod
  • XLoud loudness equalization
  • Beats Audio
  • and many more

Here is yet another Galaxy S4 look-a-like launcher for the Samsung Galaxy Y. This one is currently being modified by TheRoHit18 from xda-developers forums. On top of that, in this post I will provide you a S4 Weather look-a-like (based off Ya Weather) that is again modded by TheRohit18 with a transparent background and a flashable S4 fonts zip file.

galaxy y s4 launcher

This one seems awfully similar to SaM-RoN's S4 launcher release that was exported from a chinese device, but to have it available in a seperate post, there must be some changes applied that make it look different than SaM-RoN's.

The previous version of this launcher had an issue where the user would install it and then get a black screen when trying to launch it. This issue is claimed to be fixed in this version 4.

V4 changelog:

  • Removed some useless animations and some stuff
  • Now you can enjoy full size widgets
  • Some improvement in launcher's font
  • Some layout improvements
  • Now v4 looks more like the original s4 launcher

Features:

  • S4 icons
  • S4 wallpapes
  • S4 app drawer
  • S4 Page indicators
  • Shake to Change Wallpaper feature
  • Original tw5 ldpi like resized icons

S4 Launcher - Click here.
S4 Fonts - Click here.
Transparent S4 Weather - Click here.

Installation:

  1. Download all the files to your sdcard
  2. Boot into CWM Recovery
  3. Go to mounts and storage - make sure everything is monted just to be safe
  4. Flash the S4 Launcher zip file, flash the s4 fonts zip file (optional)
  5. Reboot your phone
  6. Install the S4 Weather apk
  7. Install the Google Search widget apk

[ROM] GYA ROM [V1.1 UPDATED] for Galaxy Y GT-S5360

The long awaited GYA rom is here! I have only released this rom just because of a lot of demands. Everyone found it good looking from the videos and I thought I'd share it.

What is the concept?

The concept of this rom is to bring you a totally different feeling when you flash the rom. The goal is to give the user after flashing the rom, a feeling of using a totally different phone with a more advanced TouchWiz look. This rom does not have all of those cool EDT Tweaks, customizable notification screen features and so on, because I am trying to keep the simple Samsung TouchWiz stock look. Still, there are some goodies that can come of most use, so instead of filling up the rom with useless crap I have only added the most needed and primary features such as the lidroid toggles, the custom lockscreens, Viper4Android FX to enhance your audio, and a few more.
Please keep in mind that this rom was made for my personal use in the first place, so it's pretty obvious why it will be missing all of those useless extras mentioned above.

NOTE:

This is an experimental release, meaning that I didn't take any effort at all to test and improve things. This rom will come with Superuser app but without root binaries, so you would need to manually root it just like how you first root your phone. The boot animation also got damaged unexplainably therefore I have temporary disabled it with 1 line of code in build.prop. If you feel like you can fix it, remove the line "debug.sf.nobootanimation=1".

Features:

  • BusyBox
  • Deodexed
  • Lidroid Toggles themed in Samsung's TouchWiz look
  • 6 AOSP Lockscreens
  • Viper4Android FX to enhance your music experience
  • Well organized Settings
  • Power Saver app (included in Settings)
  • Advanced TouchWiz themed
  • TouchWiz4 launcher look-a-like with replaceable/movable dock icons
  • Latest Google Play
  • Some app icons taken off Ace 2, S2, etc
  • Kernel free
  • Some performance tweaks have been added
  • Custom GYA boot animation and sound (temporary stopped from build.prop due to problems)

Changes applied in v1.1:

  • Fixed boot animation
  • ROM now comes rooted, should not have any issues with obtaining root access
  • Fixed WiFi "Obtaining IP address" issue
  • Zipaligned APKs to decrease RAM usage
  • Some bloatware removed
  • Default wallpapers changed
  • Calling should work without any issues and IMEI should be detected

    Screenshots:

Download ROM (Dev-Host) - Click here.

    Installation:

    1. Download the zip to your sdcard
    2. Boot into CWM Recovery
    3. Go to mounts and storage -> format /system, format /data
    4. Mount the partitions if they are not mounted after the formatting
    5. Go back, choose to install zip
    6. Install the zip
    7. If you get an error such as Status 7, ignore it and reboot

      Installation video & Quick tour:

Once again I would like to remind you that this rom was never meant to be released to the public, thus it lacks most of the features roms nowadays have. If you would like to see this rom advance in features and get most issues fixed, please leave a comment or drop an e-mail at: galaxyyarchive@abv.bg

A while ago I showed you how to make your menu and back keys vibrate upon touch which works succesfully but unfortunately for users who don't want to root their phone, that wasn't possible as you had to use a root file browsing app and modify a file in the system partition.

A member from xda-developers forums - thewarlord has come up with this idea to make a CWM flashable zip file that gets the job done without all of that hassle on rooting your phone, going through your system partition and modifying a file, and rebooting the phone on top of that. Quite clever.

This little mod replaces your default qwerty.kl file with one that has the changes done into it, and this can be considered universal (should work on any rom) as this file shouldn't really have much difference on various 2.3.6 builds.

      Download mod - Click here.

      Installation:

      1. Download the above zip file to your sdcard
      2. Boot into CWM Recovery
      3. Go to "install zip from sdcard"
      4. Then select "choose zip from sdcard"
      5. Now locate the softviberatecwm.zip file and select it
      6. Choose Yes when asked to confirm
      7. Wait a few seconds and after it says "install from sdcard complete"
      8. Press the back button to go to the main menu and select "reboot system now"
      9. Enjoy your vibrating soft keys

      Bugs list by percy_g2:

      • No camera
      • No audio
      • No wifi
      • No bluetooth
      Issues worked on:
      • Overlay for ldpi (fixed)
      • Audio
      • Bluetooth
      • WiFi

      Tips

Some apps in tablet mode are too big to fit our screen like camera and also statusbar so don't change its UI to tablet. you can change dpi of any apps so change it that you find suitable

Most Galaxy Young users these days seem to prefer the JellyBean look, but themed in TouchWiz. It truly does look beautiful and people are trying as much as they can to re-create that look for their old-styled gingerbread devices.

marcussmith2626 from xda-developers forums has recently created this JB 4.2.2 look-a-like notification screen.

      Download - Click here.

      Warning:

It is possible that the system files you are about to flash may not be compatible with your current rom, so be sure to create a nandroid backup before doing this! GalaxyYArchive and the developers will not be responsible for your foolishness, take this warning seriously or you will end up losing data if no backup was made.

      Installation:

      1. Download the zip file to your sdcard
      2. Boot into CWM Recovery
      3. Go to mounts and storage -> mount /system
      4. Go back, choose to istall zip from sdcard
      5. Then choose the option "choose zip from sdcard"
      6. Now locate the mod zip file and select it
      7. Choose Yes when asked to confirm
      8. After installation is complete, go back, choose reboot system now
